Week 16 Match Summaries

Mens Ones

Mens Ones played away against Worthing at 10:00am. The Crows took the lead early on and then conceded three in a tricky first half. The team rallied in the second half, pulling one back and applying pressure for the whole half. Crowborough came so close a number of times but couldn’t convert their spectacular passing into a goal because the Worthing keeper had an absolute blinder. Captain Matt Ott was "proud of the way the team reacted after half time". The game ended in a 3-2 defeat with Ollie Turner-Moore getting both goals and player of the match going to Finn Alexander.

Mens Twos

Mens Twos played at home against St Francis at 10:30am. Captain Hamish Marr said that "it was a really nice game. Goals went to Joe Joyce, Charlie Phelan and the third goal was an absolute worldie from Ben Holcombe where he ran the length of the pitch and chipped the keeper. Excellent performance from all." The game ended in a 3-3 draw with player of the match going to Joe Joyce.

Mens Threes

Mens Threes played at home against Crawley at 12:00pm. The Crows had another fine performance from the young side. The opposition took the lead early on but the mens threes definitely did not give up. Parity was restored thanks to Tim Porter and then Joel Street's quick passing set up a superb reverse-stick goal by Freddie Lee. In the second half, wonderful passing and a great transfer move resulted in James Lee’s precision cross being met by Sammy Alker to put the Crows ahead. Crawley equalised from an unfortunate penalty flick. The game ended in a well earned 2-2 draw with player of the match going to Joel Street.

Ladies Ones

Ladies Ones played away against Brighton at 13:15pm. The Crows had a fantastic team performance. They defended solidly from the start whistle with superb use of the transfer today. Our midfielders held their ground and controlled the game moving forward. Goals came from great passing play. Alice Webb put us ahead in the first half. The Crows conceded a short corner half way into the 2nd half, but rallied and Naomi put us ahead with 10 minutes to go. The game ended in a 2-1 win.

Ladies Twos

Ladies Twos played away against Horsham at 11:30am. The twos began the game with some excellent passing, constantly switching the ball and getting past the opposition's defence with ease. Unfortunately, the team had many chances that they could just not convert into goals despite the magnificent attacking play. The second half was much harder and the defence were crucial in the result. The team put in 100% to keep the opposition from scoring. After the game, the team found it hard to give just one person player of the match and so it went to both Meg Bissett and Keren Loder for an excellent defensive display. The game ended in a 0-0 draw.

Boys Development

Boys Development played at home against Lewes at 13:30pm. The boys were in for a difficult game against top of the league, however that did not put of the team at all. Coach Justin Singleton described the team to have "much better play than our last encounter and some good marking." They had lots of time in the opposite half and a really positive attitude. The game ended in a 7-0 loss which was a great result for the side.

Girls Development

Girls Development played away against Eastbourne at 13:15pm. The first half ended 0-0 with some superb attacking and defending play from the girls. The team went 2-0 up early in the second half, team spirit high and communication within players impressive. The opposition got a late consolation but this did not effect the girl's spirit in the slightest. The game ended in a 2-1 win!
