Justin Singleton

Head Coach / Boys Youth manager/ Safeguarding and welfare

Justin joined the club to work with the juniors in 1999 and two years later joined the club fully as a player and head coach. He has captained all the clubs mens’ sides and played over 400 games for Crowborough. He qualified as a level 2 coach in 1998 and has been coaching every season since, including coaching for Sussex active sports partnership, Beacon school, Bennett school Hockey teams, Sussex u14 and u13, Herne Bay, Canterbury Christchurch University and Phoenix Mixed hockey.

Fiona Von-Hinten

Club Chair Person/ Girls Development Manager

Fiona first joined Crowborough Hockey Club in 2005 and quickly progressed through the womens section. She then went on to play competitively at the University of Sheffield where she gained her England coaching qualification. Since rejoining Crowborough in 2018 she has taken on the role of chairperson with a particular focus on improving the facilities for the club to safeguard its future. She also manages the Girls Development Squad.

Fixtures Secretary

Julie is our Fixtures Secretary and Umpire co-ordinator. She has had various roles with the club over the past 14 years including organising the youth academy sides and helping with junior training. As well as helping to organise Crowborough Hockey Club, she has been the League Secretary for the Sussex Womens Leagues for 2 seasons and a panel umpire for one (resulting in a collection of fluorescent t-shirts and coats).

Lucy Smith

Club captain  

Lucy has been playing hockey for over ten years and made the move to Crowborough five years ago. In her words, it’s ‘the best sports club’ she’s ever been a part of! Her roles are club captain and social secretary. As club captain, Lucy works with all of the captains to ensure the best outcomes, not only for all teams but the club as a whole.

Dani Newitt

Club Secretary

Dani has been playing hockey for Crowborough Hockey Club since 2011 and wanted to do more for the club she loved. Dani was nominated to perform the duties of Club Secretary and was quickly placed in the role. Dani also coordinates the clubs kit and playing shirts. Dani's role is to manage all communication between committee members, CHC members and outside organisations. If you have any questions, Danielle is your person.

Vicky Dennett

Communications/ Young Umpires/

Women's Twos Captain

Vicky has been playing hockey for the past 20 years after making the transition from football where she played for Coventry City. She is captain of the Women's 2nd team and has also organised and umpired at numerous junior tournaments. The highlights of her time with Crowborough Hockey Club were captaining the winning team in The Vase Final in 2015-16, gaining promotion to Division Two as title winners in 2019-20 and seeing the U10 and U12s sides win medals at Sussex tournaments.

Matt Ott

Mens Ones Captain

Matt joined Crowborough Hockey Club back in 2017 after moving into the area and has been Men’s 1st captain for the past two years, leading them to promotion in the 22-23 season. He’s played Hockey since his school days and is looking forward to continuing his sporting journey at Crowborough Hockey Club.

Sam Williams

Women's Ones Captain

Sam has played for Crowborough Hockey Club since school and returned to the club four years ago, leading the Women's Ones to promotion into the Sussex Premier Division. She is also an active committee member and chair of selection, famed for her turns as quiz master at fundraisers.

Hilary Brown

Club President

Hilary has been a member of Crowborough Hockey Club since its inception in 1968.  In that time, Hilary has seen it grow to provide teams for all  ages for both men and women. Crowborough Hockey Club is a friendly club: “A great club of which I am proud to be president.”

Hilary won the England Hockey Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023

Hamish Marr

Coach 

Hamish has played since a youth at Crowborough, playing and vice captaining the Mens Ones as well as representing County sides. He has coached at the club for the past three seasons. In addition, he also captains the Mens Twos side, volunteers to umpire regularly and helps in all club events.

Amanda Catling

Umpire Coordinator

Amanda has  played hockey from the age of 11, playing for and captaining Sussex at u16 and u18 levels. She took time out to have a family but found her way back via Crowborough Hockey Club, managing the Girls Development side to success, then playing first Twos and now Women's Ones. She has now taken on the roles of club umpire coordinator 

Charlotte Richardson

Membership Secretary

Charlotte has been at the club since the age of 13. After returning from University, Charlotte re-joined the club and is looking forward to seeing Crowborough Hockey Club continue to grow and bring the joy of hockey to even more people over the next few years!

Keren Loder

Club Treasurer

Keren is now in her third season with the club after playing at a high level in Kent and Sussex and with SE Masters. Keren umpires regularly and is a young umpire mentor. She also works with the junior tournament sides. The 23-24 season saw her take control of the club's finances.

Kate Baxter

Social Secretary

Kate is the vice captain of the Women's Ones and also the club's social secretary, responsible for fun fundraisers. She has been playing for the Crows since she was 13, scoring an abundance of goals in every season!
