Hilary Brown
Club President

Hilary has been a member of Crowborough Hockey Club since its inception in 1968. In that time she has seen it grow to provide teams for all ages for both men and women. You can always see Hilary up at the pitch early on a Saturday morning to help out with junior training or supporting all the teams league matches. She describes Crowborough Hockey Club "A great Club of which I am proud to be President." Hilary won the England Hockey Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023 for her dedication and devotion to Crowborough Hockey Club. Her past and present peers described her as the "Best of role models" and also that she is "At the very heart of the club". As a club we are so privileged to have someone like Hilary, her unwavering support and commitment is exemplary.

Amanda Catling
Club Chairperson

Amanda has played hockey from the age of 11 and captained the Under 16's & Under 18's at Sussex level. Although she took time out to have a family once her girls where old enough to hold a hockey stick they where encouraged to play at Crowborough Hockey Club. Amanda watched her daughters for a few years from the sidelines before taking over their girls development team and leading the to win a cup. Now they are all grown up she has picked back up her hockey stick and is playing for the Womens 1's after working her way up from the Women's 3's. Amanda also runs the training sessions for the women's section, umpiries every week, takes her daughters to their games, supports other Crowborough sides and now, going into her 5th year on committee she is adding Club Chairperson into the mix for the 2026/27 season. We are very excited to see what she has planned for the club and wish her the best success leading the club.

Fraser Milne
Men's Club Captain

Fraser has been at Crowborough Hockey Club for many years, he is a passionate player who is always a determined leader on the pitch for the men's 3's. Within this role he will be taking on as men's club captain he will support and lead the men's team captains with club operations and member relationships. Fraser will really excel in this committee position because he is a personable and passionate character who is an ideal shoe in to represent the men's section of the club. When Fraser isn't playing you will see him often giving up his own game to umpire or coach his much loved boy's development team which he has led for the past 2 seasons and will continue to do this season. He has brought them strength to strength and creates a nurturing environment for these young players to thrive in.

Josie Mitchell
Women's Club Captain

Josie joined Crowborough Hockey Club in 2022 after not playing for several years but her love and passion for hockey returned very quickly with the help of her new teammates. In 2024 she stepped up to Captain the Women's 2's and did such an amazing job, she was commended for her awesome leadership skills with the Captain of the Year award that year which was highly deserved. After being out with an injury she stepped up to join the committee as Membership Officer and to help out with the women's section training last season. This coming season sees Josie jointly captain the women's 2's and take on a the role as the women's club captain. Within her new role she will support and lead the women's team captains with club operations and member relationships. She will excel in this committee position as she has exceptional leadership, communication and organisational skills, but most importantly she is kind, empathetic and approachable.

Fiona von-Hinten
Club Secretary

Fiona a former chair of CHC and current club vice-president, earned her role through her outstanding efforts in upgrading the pitch surface and lighting facilities in 2024 during her 5 year tenure as chair. She has been involved with the club since she was 13, playing through the teams before leaving for university. After a 5 year break, she returned during the club's 50th anniversary celebrations. Fiona is a tremendous asset to the committee, being highly organised and deeply familiar with the club. In recent seasons, she has captained various teams, leading the women's 4's to promotion in their debut season in 2025 and maintaining their league status as the newly named women's 3's last season. This season, she is co-captaining the women's 2's alongside Josie, both eager to succeed in their new league with 2 strong leaders at the helm.

Keren Loder
Club Treasurer

Keren has played at a variety of levels for different clubs as a goalie for many years, she used to play in our Women's section but is unfortunately recently injured. Keren has been our club treasurer for 3 years now and takes pride in managing the clubs finances, making sure everyone gets the chance to play hockey and have fun. When she isn't in goal Keren is either umpiring, helping out with junior tournaments, helping out at social events, or mentoring young umpires. She never says no to helping out! Keren's favourite memories at CHC are laughing herself silly at the club social events and making lifelong friends at the club.

Harry Hook
Mens 1st XI Captain

Harry began his hockey journey at CHC at age 12, progressing through all the men's teams to become captain of the men's 1's. He is a dependable defender known for his passionate and spirited approach, contributing significantly to the men's 1's and committee. Following a successful promotion in 2025, the club welcomed back several former players, bolstering the entire men's section and enabling the formation of a men's 4's this coming season. Although the men's 1's narrowly missed out on consecutive promotions by 5 points last season, the disappointment has motivated Harry and his teamates to return stronger for the 2026/27 season.

Sam Williams
Womens 1st XI Captain

Sam is a fun and friendly person who is the Women's 1's captain, she brings skill, determination and speed to the team and always nurtures the youngsters who are developing through the club. With this role comes the responsibility of leading the women's captains in selection which she has done for many years liaising with the chair of selectors to ensure that each of the 4 women's teams has a strong, well balanced squad. When Sam isn't in hockey mode she loves to watch the rugby or cricket and her day time job is as a wine maker but don't worry she will still make time to reprise her role once or twice a year as the Quizmaster at our fundraiser Quizzes. 

Justin Singleton
Training, Welfare, Growth & Development

Justin joined the club to work with juniors in 1999 and 2 years later became a player and coach, he has coached many sides including for Sussex, Bennett school, mixed hockey and many more teams. He has captained all the clubs men's sides and played over 400 games for Crowborough Hockey Club. Justin is a valued member of the club which is shown through his status of vice-president. If Justin is not coaching, going to committee meetings, captaining, training, chairing women's selection, ferrying his daughter to games or playing himself you will see him still at the hockey pitch umpiring lots of games for the club. Justin is truly a club legend.

Vicky Dennett
PR Officer

Vicky has been playing hockey for the past 20 years after making the transition from football where she played for Coventry City. Her highlights at Crowborough Hockey Club are captaining the womens 2's in the Vase Final in the 2015-16 season, gaining promotion with the womens 2's to division 2 as title winners in the 2019-20 season and seeing both the Under 10's & 12's sides win medals at Sussex tournaments. Vicky does so much for Crowborough Hockey club including captaining, playing wherever she is needed, umpiring, coaching juniors and organises opportunities for young umpires. Lat season she also managed to fit in starting a walking hockey team and organising a charity hockey event. If she is not doing all of these things she can be seen behind a camera taking pictures of everyone for the newspaper so watch out!

Brett Parish
Umpire Secretary

Brett, a former player and cherished club supporter, has become an outstanding umpire in recent years. He was honoured with Umpire of the Year award in 2024 and also received Non-Player of the Year award in 2025 in recognition of his significant and appreciated volunteer contributions over the years. He provides a calm presence on the pitch and is always ready to help. After much encouragement, he has agreed to join the committee as Umpire Secretary, a role we are confident he will excel in. We eagerly anticipate his fresh ideas and contributions to the committee, recognising him as a valuable asset who genuinely cares about the club's best interests.

Bethy Catling
Digital Officer

Bethy has played matches at Crowborough Hockey Club since the age of 11 but has trained at our Saturday junior training since the age of 8. She has played in the Women's 2's, 3's & 4's but started out in the Girl's development team. Being only 19 she is the youngest committee member and is carrying on as Digital Officer for her 3rd year and through her role she plans to use different platforms to promote this amazing Club and gain many more new members. She has gained over 1k followers on the Crowborough Hockey Club Instagram Page and can't wait for the seasonto start so she can create some more fun content for our Tik Tok page. This season also sees Bethy take on the women's 3's captaincy which she is very excited about and aims to keep the team comfortably in their league.

Finn Alexander

Sponsorship Officer

Finn, a men's 1's player with 8 years worth of experience, has joined the committee this season. We are eager to witness his success in this new capacity. He chose to join the committee this year, motivated by a desire to contribute to the behind-the-scenes efforts of CHC and give back to the club. Finn is dedicated to CHC's development and aims to boost engagement with the local community and businesses, thereby creating more opportunities for the club and its members. We anticipate his valuable contributions to our committee.
