Week 20 Match Summaries

Mens Ones

Mens Ones played away against Brighton at 15:00pm. Brighton took the lead in the first half with a well worked goal after Borough had had much of the play. Borough rallied and after sustained pressure scored twice to take the lead before half time. The Crows remained on top for most of the second half but Brighton managed to pull one back to share the points. Good team effort with 11 players although there were a couple of short cameos by Fraser to cover an injury. The game ended in a 2-2 draw with goal scorers being Jake Simmons and Rohan Milne.


Mens Twos

Mens Twos played at home against East Grinstead at 13:30pm. The opposition were insanely good with quick play and some excellent skills. Crowborough matched the skill of the opposition and their speed was incredible. A special mention to Theo Hall who played with some impressive hockey ability. The men were really happy and enjoyed the game despite the goals scored against them. The game ended in a 8-0 loss with player of the match going to the absolutely incredible Rufus Jones who's saves impressed even the opposition.


Mens Threes

Mens Threes played away against Brighton at 13:30pm. Crowborough were quick off the mark with some spectacular teamwork. Energy was kept up throughout the game with some great breakaway play and impressive defensive displays. Unfortunately the game ended in a 4-1 loss but was a friendly game to have played.


Ladies Ones

Ladies Ones played away against Crawley at 10:30am. It was overall a good final game for the team. Crowborough started really strongly, scoring two goals early on. Both teams struggled a bit with the heat and Borough particularly struggled with the bouncy slow pitch so conceded two goals in the second half. This however did not stop the ladies at all, the game demonstrating some excellent passing and great individual skill. The game ended in a 2-2 draw with player of the match going to Clare Bennett who had an absolute blinder of a game. The ladies have finished in a strong 6th place this season, a great mid-table position to be in in such a high league. Well done Ladies Ones!


Ladies Twos

Ladies Twos played away against Eastbourne in a friendly at 10:00am. The game began with a swift goal which set the tone for the rest of the game. Crowborough constantly pushed forward and the great communication between players lead to another goal before half time. The second half saw the Crows passing wide more as well as defend with some strong tackles. Another two goals were scored against the higher-leagued team with some awesome top D strikes. The game ended in a 4-0 win with goals going to Sophie Holcombe (1), Jen Lingard (1), Grace Mercer (1) and Amanda Catling (1). It was a really nice friendly with both teams enjoying every moment of it. Thank you to the kind Eastbourne player who took the time to bake us all brownies for after the match! Player of the match went to Grace Mercer, Jess Jolley and Sophie Holcombe for their excellent play.


Ladies Threes

Ladies Threes played at home against Penguins at 10:30am. Despite the heat, it was a full on match. Lara Swan opened the scoring from a short corner, and Lucy Gibson followed this up with a second Crows goal shortly afterwards. Sophia Dennett worked hard in midfield, and Amber Valentine did some great attacking play during the second half. Various players tried different positions throughout the match to gain experience and played exceptionally in every position. Development players Zoey Wood and Zara Green worked skilfully and fast up front in their first ladies threes game. Lara Swan then scored a second goal to end the game in a 3-0 win for their last game of the season. The player of the match went to Lara Swan for some awesome captaining, her first goals of a long season and her desire throughout.
