Week 10 Match Summaries

Mens Ones

Mens Ones played at Lingfield against Brighton at midday. It was a hard fought game with great chances that the side just could not convert into goals. Despite this, the men played incredible hockey and it was a great game to end the year. The men lost 1-0 with player of the match going to Finn Alexander.

Mens Twos

Mens Twos played away against East Grinstead at midday. Captain Hamish Marr described it as "the best hockey we have played all season". The highlight of the match was goalie Rufus yelling a film quote and heading the ball out of the D! The team lost 4-1 with the goal being scored by Charlie Phelan. Player of the Match went to Sam Chick.

Mens Threes

Mens Threes played at Lingfield against Brighton at 10:30am. With an interesting start and with only 10 players, it was an outstanding performance from the side's younger players. Great passing and moving going forward. Defensively superb, positional discipline, marking spot on and great work rate. Player of the match went to Harry Hamilton-Brown.

Ladies Ones

Ladies Ones played at home against Crawley at midday. With multiple goals, amazing attacking play and even a yellow card, this game showed how the ones can adapt to anything within a game. They played well in attacking and defensive positions, absolutely dominating the game throughout. The game ended with a 4-2 win, scorers including Sam Williams, Kate Baxter, Kirsten Harris and Annie Marr.

Boys Development

Boys Development played at home against Horsham at 10:30am. It was another tough game with a strong opposition. Umpire Bethy Catling said that "the boys battled hard throughout the course of the game and had some unlucky chances at goal". The game ended in a 5-0 loss.

Club Friendly

This match happened at 13:30pm and involved girls development, ladies threes and ladies twos who did not have a game this weekend. Availability was spectacular, enough players available within 24 hours to have two full sides. It was a game of new opportunities, including the opportunity for ladies ones player Annie Marr (who had previously scored in her match) to play as a goalie! The game was immense fun and assisted the ladies section in becoming an even stronger unit. A massive thank you to Fiona Von-Hinton for arranging the game at such short notice!

An enormous well done to Amanda Catling and Matt Ott for passing their Level One umpiring assessment this weekend!

Also a final thank you to Amanda Catling and Fiona Von-Hinton for organising this weekend's social! The ladies section had an amazing time ice skating and the adult section had a fun time at the social club with the secret santa!
