WOMEN'S 1'S:
Crowborough Women's 1s played newly promoted Mid Sussex 2's on Saturday in a post lunch pushback. The team started brightly pushing forward from the start with some strong easy chances. As the game settled it became end-to-end with both sides creating opportunities. But it was Crowborough who capitalised first on their early pressure following a goal mouth scrap which saw Kate B finish from close range. Mid Sussex didn't rollover but instead fought back and scored after a similar goal mouth scrap, squeezing it in at the near post for the half time score to be 1:1. The team went out for the second half with a belief that the win was within their reach and a well worked moves round the back saw Millie R-G play a defensive splitting pass out to the right hand side for the ball to be played into Poppy C to provide a cool finish. Mid Sussex continued to press with Kate I defending well but unfortunately a short corner resulted in her hit hard in the jaw. Despite several more Mid Sussex attacks the defense held and the final score was 2:1. Player of the match was shared between Millie R-G who had a superb game at centre back and Poppy C who scored the winning goal.
WOMEN'S 2'S:
Crowborough Women's 2's played South Downs 2's at home on Saturday and from the first whistle the team battled hard. Eve T made the score board again with two cracking goals, followed by a goal from Matilda W who played beautifully throughout. Going into the 2nd half the score was 3:2 but nothing was certain. After a quick team talk at half time from Josie the ladies came back even stronger. Daisy H who played centre back was on top form and quick to clear any attacks from South Downs. Midfielder Catherine McK played a blinding game and is a very exciting addition to the 2's. After multiple attempts to get a goal, South Downs managed to break and score the equaliser. But the ladies battled back and Danni N managed to score the 4th and final goal and her first for the club. With tired legs and endless battles, South Downs managed to bag one more goal making the final score 4:4. Player of the match went to the team for the outstanding performance in the 2nd half.
WOMEN'S 3'S:
The Women's 3's drew 1:1 versus Worthing 2's on Saturday in a tough and physical encounter. Fiona v-Hscored the all important goal which was a strike from the top of the D into the bottom corner of the goal beating the keeper with ease. Special mentions go to Emily H who had a great game at centre back and joint Players of the match Lottie C for driving well with the ball and Isla P for holding the midfield.
WOMEN'S 4'S:
Crowborough Women’s 4’s played aggainst a newly formed East Grinstead 5’s team on Saturday for a late 4:30pm push back. The Crows started the game a little slow of the mark which meant the opposition were ahead by 1 within the first 15 minutes. But after this wake up call the team seemed to gel and all of our training from coach Amanda C on Thursday nights fell into place. The defensive line of Captain Sarah M, Bethy C, Holly S, Rachael-may C, Vicky D and Amelia T played superbly. They turned defence into attacking presses and this was rewarded by a lovely well worked goal all the way from defence to midfield to our wingers. The final strike to secure the goal for the 4’s was Bethany B with a lovely slap which beat the oppositions keeper with ease. The midfield consisting of Caroline W, Karen S and Jennie T kept running the whole time and fed some great balls to the forwards of Amber H, Amber V and Izzy I. Despite this the Crows conceded 1 more goal before half time making it 2:1 to East Grinstead at the break. After a regroup at half time they went into the second half with more determination than ever to get some points out of this game. With Charlotte R in goal they knew that she would provide stability in goal. She was incredibly reliable and said nothing but positive comments to the team keeping spirits high. She was genuinely legendary. Our defence carried on defending well making great tackles on very quick nippy players who clearly had the potential to play in higher leagues. With decisions not going Crowboroughs way it was frustrating for the players but they kept the ball out of the net till they very last second of the game where a well worked short corner from the opposition sneaked in just before the final whistle meaning the game ended in a 3:1 loss despite the fact it was an extremely close game. Special mentions went to Bethany B for her lovely goal, Charlotte R for her insane goalie performance and Bethany C who got Player of the Match. We wish Sarah M a quick and speedy recovery.
MEN'S 1'S:
Crowborough Men's 1's delivered a dominant away performance to secure a 3:1 victory over Hailsham in a fiery and physical encounter on Saturday afternoon. From the opening whistle, Crowborough took control of the game, pressing high and forcing errors from the Hailsham defence. Their early pressure was rewarded when Olly Y capitalised on a spilled save from the Hailsham goalkeeper, calmly slotting the ball home to give the visitors a deserved lead. Despite Borough’s dominance, Hailsham managed to level the score just before the break, converting from a penalty corner to go into half-time at 1:1 — somewhat against the run of play. The first half wasn’t without controversy, as tensions flared during an aggressive spell of play. A reckless tackle from a Hailsham player sent Sam C to hospital, casting a shadow over an already heated contest. To their credit, Crowborough kept their composure and channeled their frustration into a focused second-half performance. The pressure paid off again as Olly Y found the net for a second time, this time firing a slap hit from a penalty corner to restore the lead. The visitors continued to push, and the game was put to bed when James P drove along the baseline and beat the keeper at his near post with a composed finish. It was a commanding performance from Crowborough, who outworked and outclassed their opponents in nearly every department. Player of the match went to Dan C and everyone wishes Sam C a speedy recovery.
MEN'S 2'S:
Crowborough Men’s 2's continued there winning streak with a 8:2 win against Crawley 3's. The Crows started the game strong with great transfer play around the back which opened loads of pockets of play for the wings and midfield. This was taken advantage of, leading to loads of opportunities and goals. Crowborough did very well converting most short corners into goals from Hamish M and Rowan M. A huge effort put in from Jude F making assists and playing really well in the middle, and massively deserved his player of the match.
MEN'S 3'S:
Crowborough Men's 3’s travelled to meet Brighton & Hove’s 9’s for an early 10:15am pushback under very windy conditions. Moving to a 3-4-3 formation, the Crows were looking to use the experience of Ian E high up the field and Justin S moving up to midfield. This set up created some very positive early play for the Crows with high energy from George L, Lewis H and Eddie D. However it was the hosts, with a young, well drilled side that made strong, accurate passes that kept Crowborough chasing the ball and keeper Mark F busy. After Crowborough conceded four goals, it looked like the crows had run out of ideas, however in the true spirit of the 3’s they kept pushing until Ian E laid the ball off for Harvey H to fire home. With a moment of elation for the 3’s, tired legs soon took over seeing Mark Fulham beaten for 5 goals. Special mentions to birthday boy Eddie D who was always looking for an attacking move forward and Player of the match Harvey H, having been floored with a ball to the ankle, still put strikes on target and finally got his well deserved goal. Brighton & Hove 9’s 5:1 Crowborough 3’s.
GIRL'S DEVELOPMENT:
Girls Development lost 2:0 on Saturday. Despite the score they all played so incredibly well and bossed the first two quarters. In the third quarter they defended incredibly but unfortunately in the fourth quarter with no subs for the Crows the opposition got two goals to win, one on the final whistle.
BOY'S DEVELOPMENT:
The Boy's Development lost 5:3 on Saturday in an end-to-end game. The goals came from Will, Hayden and Henry. It was very close to being 5:4 as Crowborough had a goal ruled out for reverse tomahawk it was a very close game.
