WOMEN’S 1’S:
Women's 1's hosted Mid Sussex 1's on Saturday, a game which started in foggy conditions. The Crows got off to a flying start with Kate B scoring within the first minute. This took Mid Sussex by surprise and jolted them awake. They reacted with pressing responding within 5 minutes to make it 1:1. Boro got more defensive and struggled to get the ball out from the back and conceded 2 more quick goals including a penalty stroke which Sandra H so nearly saved. As the half closed out Mid Sussex struck again making the score 4:1 at half time. With a clear tactical team talk by Justin S, the team pressed hard from the off and were rewarded when Nikki C broke through into the circle and played a lovely ball across goal from Tabbi C to sweep home. Crowborough were not done and continued to press earning a penalty corner with Tabbi C shooting to make the keeper save and deflect the ball to Amanda C allowing her to slam the ball home. The team continued to press high but were unable to get back on terms. The final score was a 3:5 loss. Joint Player of the match went to Nikki C and Tabbi C.

WOMEN’S 4’S:
Women’s 4’s travelled down to Brighton on Saturday for an early game against 3rd in the league Brighton Rogues. With the sun in the Crows eyes for the first half they conceded a silly quick goal within the first 10 minutes. But the Crows heads did not go down, if anything this lite a fire within them to push forward and attack the oppositions defence. They soon won a short corner which Jennie T pushed out to the top of the D for Captain Bethy C to strike the ball which just brushed passed the post, they had a few other strong opportunities in the first half from Josie M, Bethany B and Karen S but did not result in anything. However not long after Bethy C played a pass to Claire N who played a beautiful hit straight into the D which landed at Josie M, after a scuffle she stayed strong and layed the ball perfectly to the post where Vicky D was perfectly positioned to slot the ball home for the Crows. Going into the second half the opposition where frustrated with the score so gave it everything they had and where every physical. With some great saves from Rachael-May C and Goalie Tilly S they kept us in the game to keep the final score to 1:1. Player of the match was tight with a special mention to Caroline Webb for her awesome play but ultimately went to goalscorer Vicky D for playing lots of positions and making some great tackles. Onto the next game, Up the Borough!
MEN’S 1’S:
Men's 1's knew playing Lewes 2's was always going to be a hard game but they where determined to win. Lewes started well creating chances on the break of play and gaining some shorts which were defended well from Mikey O who had a super game. Lewes had a short and gained a P flick from it but Mikey O managed to save the shot with an outstretched foot. Borough then got a foothold in the game transferring round the back and working the ball well which inevitably lead to Boroughs first and second goal from Hamish M and Cameron McC. The last of the first half saw the umpires make some questionable decisions and Borough went down to 10 men through most of the second half, however with new tactics at half time and setting up a half court press the 10 men side managed to catch Lewes on the back foot. After winning the ball back and Olly Y coolly slotted the Crows last goal home. Lewes managed to score a well worked penalty corner but that’s all that they got from the game. A hard and fiery match against Lewes was tough but is another 3 points added to the league for the Crows sees them go joint top of the table. Player of the match went to the awesome Mikey O.
MEN’S 2’S:
Crowborough Men’s 2s played Lewes 5's at home on Saturday. Crowborough had a great game transferring the ball, bouncing off the midfield and wings creating loads of opportunities on goals but struggled to hit the back of the net. James L managed to get a goal in the first half after we conceded one making the score 1:1 before half time. Borough then went out into the second half feeling very fresh relentlessly having shots on goal and Lewes saving them. Alex S then got the second for Crowborough with a great run down the wing and slotting it past the keeper. The score line didn’t reflect Crowboroughs dominance and hold over the game. Another 3 points and onwards to next week.
MEN’S 3’S:
Another all round good team performance for the Men's 3's vs Brighton & Hove 10's on Saturday. The goals went to Eddie D, Nate P and Harvey H. Moment of the match was Harvey’s wonder flick over the keeper. Everyone in the crowd was thinking “surely that landed on the roof of the net” but it just dropped under the crossbar for thunderous applause. Sam S was voted the Player of the match for his great play, constantly winning tackles and distributing the ball well. Henry S worked tirelessly defending and putting in so many great and well timed tackles. A special mention also went to Eddie D who also had a storming game he was a constant threat and unlocked the Brighton defence on numerous occasions.
