WOMEN’S 1’S:
Women's 1's travelled to Littlehampton to face a well organised and determined Middleton 1's side on Saturday. Crowborough started the game quickly and were rewarded when Sam W cut in the from the left and hit a powerful shot from a tight angle to make it 1:0. This bought Middleton to life who pushed forward well. The Crows defence held well until Middleton scored 2 quick goals within 3 minutes of each other. The half finished with Crowborough 2:1 down. The half time team talk saw coach, Justin S, telling to team to be more "Nikki C" wanting the team to have the drive and determination. The team took this on board and drove forward through Poppy C, Jess J and Lucy S and defended with all their might and were rewarded with a leveling goal from Amanda C and a third from Tabbi C. Some last ditch defending by Kate I, Dani N, Clare B and Millie R-G with some fabulous saves from Tilly S, saw the game finish as a 3:2 win to Crowborough for a well deserved away win. Player of the match went to Nikki C with a special mention to Clare B.
WOMEN’S 2’S:
Women's 2's played Crawley 1's at home and came away with a well deserved win. Midfielders Emma C, Flo F and player of the match Caroline C played incredibly well, all working together and playing to each other strengths. The first goal came from Jess I with thanks to other forwards Matilda W and Eve T, placing the ball where it could be slotted in past the keeper. The second goal came from a powerful hit in by Meg S, who worked her way past both defenders with ease. Michelle H, Daisy H & Sandra H kept their cool throughout, playing some fantastic hockey and stopping any attacks made by Crawley in their tracks. Claire N & Meg J looked on top form as always, battling hard and ensuring the ball was transferred to the forwards to get those all important goals. The final score was 2:0 to the Crows, another great game for the ladies!
WOMEN’S 3’S:
Crowborough Women's 3's put in a solid team performance away at Middleton 2's. The team kept great structure throughout and made the most of their chances. Fiona v-H opened the scoring from a well-taken short corner, before Lottie C doubled the lead with a calm finish in a one-on-one with the keeper. The third came from Jenny B, who played a perfectly placed pass to the post to round off a strong team move. Crowborough stayed organised in defence and worked well across all lines, keeping Middleton’s chances limited. Players of the Match was a 3 way tie between Lottie C, Annie W, and Liv S — all for playing their positions perfectly. A great away win and a strong team effort!
WOMEN’S 4’S:
Women’s 4’s welcomed Lewes Legends at home. A bright start to the game saw Lewes legends switching sides forcing Crowborough to play into the winter sun. There quick start saw Lewes score in the first 5 minutes. Crowborough then lept into action. An end to end match saw both teams attacking. Bethy C and Rachel C were solid in defence clearing to wing backs Holly S and Amelia T to feed up the pitch. Ellie C had her debut match and her fast accurate play led to her winning Player of the match. Jenny T continued her commanding play at DCM feeding Karen S in her new position as CF. Despite shots on goal Crowborough could not beat the goalie and ended with a 1:0 loss.
MEN’S 1’S:
Men's 1's welcomed South Saxon's for a 1:15 push back with Crowborough high flying and Saxons lower in the league Borough knew it was a must win game and a game were they could improve goal difference. With a new set up and dynamic to previous weeks the Crows set aggressively and started the game strongly. In the first 5 mins the Saxons keeper saved about 10 shots but it wasn’t enough to keep Borough out, scoring 6 in the first half. Cameron McC x3, Harry T x2, Ollly Y x5 and Rohan M x1 all got on the getting on the score sheet. Saxons won a PC and managed to slot a well drilled routine away. However that’s all they had all game. Borough kept on dominating possession and with an aggressive style kept slotting goals home for fun. A great show from the lads with great connection and fluidity from the back line through to the front. Final score was 11:1 and it puts the Crows 2nd in the league. Player of the match went to Cameron McC.
MEN’S 2’S:
Men’s 2's went away to Lewes on Saturday for an end to end battle. Borough opened up the game with a goal in the first couple of minutes which was soon returned by a well won short corner from Lewes equalising the score to 1:1. Borough continued pressing and got another to make it 2:1. Then with another well drilled short corner from Lewes put the two sides at equal! This then happened a third time where Borough would score and Lewes would return to win a short and score it. A P flick to Lewes could have seen them taking the lead but Mark F made an excellent save keeping the score line at 3:3 . In the second half with a quick turn over from the back led to Alex S running down the left wing slotting back an awesome solo goal for the Crows to take the 4:3 win. Goals from Will H x2, Alex S x1 and Andy O x1.
MEN’S 3’S:
The Men’s 3's put up a good fight but lost 3:1 at home against East Grinstead 5's on Saturday. The side set up well with Steve B holding the midfield with the confident assistance of Lucas D. The victors gained confidence swiftly and Nick S made a series of double saves to keep them at bay. Henry S also made some vital clearances. The Crows weren’t without their chances with Eddie D picking the ball up from a defensive clearance and playing the ball through to George L but the keeper saved brilliantly. They then got the ball in the back of the net but were judged to have struck outside the D. The opposition got a trio of well worked goals but Crowborough came back when Nate P was flattened and George L scored from the resultant short corner. The ever running Jacob S nearly made it two as the ball whistled past the post and Elijah F spurred the side forward right to the end.
