WOMEN'S 1'S:

Crowborough Womens 1's started their league campaign with a tough home game against Brighton 4s. With a few new faces, Crowborough started brightly and pushed hard from the off, pressing as a team. The team had some well worked moves, particularly down the left with excellent communication across the team and were rewarded when a through ball saw Poppy C round the keeper to make it 1-0. The team continued with the pressure and some excellent work by Tabbi C saw her slip the ball to Kate B who finished expertly with a reverse tomahawk. Down the other end the defense worked hard with some lovely saves by Tilly Singleton in goal. At the break the Crows where 2:0 up. The team came out for the second half and continued to battle, but as tiredness set in Brighton increased the pressure and pounced scoring 2 quick goals towards the end of the half. Final score 2:2. Player of the Match went to Clare Bennett for her tireless effort at wingback.

WOMEN'S 2'S:

Ladies 2s played Middleton at home on Saturday with a fresh team made up of new and old players, the flow of the team just clicked. All ladies played a fantastic game, with goals from Eve T (2), Jess I and Libby H. Middleton simply couldn’t beat the likes of wing backs Matilda W and Megan J who just flew past the defence line, making that all important shot at goal. Flo F and Isla P rallied from the first whistle, showing pure talent throughout, all though it’s fair to say all of the ladies looked on top form! A fantastic team performance by all meant that the 2's came away with 4:1 win, a very exciting start to the season. Player of the Match was shared between midfielder Eve T for scoring those all important 2 goals, Libby H for her fantastic marking and her spectacular goal and finally Matilda W who stepped up to the role of wing back, a position she hasn’t played before and moved seamlessly into the role.

WOMEN'S 3'S:

The Women's 3s travelled to Horsham for a midday game last Saturday as their first league game of the season and their first game in this league after being promoted last season. The defence were solid and strong rarely letting the opposition feed any balls through. The attack drove the ball with positivity and the midfield ran their socks off the whole game. The team where very unlucky not to walk away with the full 3 points as the opposition equalised in the last two minutes of the game. The goalscorers where Fiona v-H (1) and Sally B (3). The final score was 4:4 and the Player of the Match went to Sally B for her first game in adult hockey and scoring a hattrick!

MEN'S 1'S:

Crowborough Men's 1's travelled to Eastbourne on Saturday and came away with a well-earned 5:3 victory in an action-packed encounter that saw goals, cards, and moments of real quality from both sides. The hosts struck first, converting a penalty corner early in the first half. However, once Crowborough found their rhythm, they quickly asserted themselves in the game. The midfield duo of Harry T and Angus D were instrumental throughout, dictating the tempo and contributing both defensively and in attack. Harry T got Crowborough level with a clinical drag flick, and Oli Y put the visitors ahead with a superb reverse stick finish into the bottom corner. Harry T then struck again, this time reacting smartly at a penalty corner – picking up a bounce pass and flicking it past the Eastbourne defence. Oli Y added a fourth with a moment of individual brilliance, diving to meet a ball in the D and firing it into the top right corner. Eastbourne pushed hard in the second half, capitalising on tired legs and a few tactical fouls that saw Crowborough reduced temporarily with cards. The home side took advantage with a couple of well-taken penalty corners which they managed to convert into goals, but Crowborough’s early dominance proved decisive. Angus D completed the scoring for Crowborough, getting a crucial touch to deflect a drag flick past the keeper and make it 5:3. Overall, it was a strong team performance, with Harry T and Angus D controlling the midfield and Oli Y attacking contributions proving vital. Despite a spirited second-half fightback from Eastbourne, Crowborough’s sharpness in front of goal ensured they returned home with all three points

MEN'S 2'S:

The Men’s 2s had there first home game of the season against Worthing 5's on Saturday and it was definelty on to watch! The home team settled into the game very quickly showing the Worthing side there fitness and skill from the beginning. After a build up of play Crowborough managed to find the net and score there first, not long after this the home team took another opportunity making it 2:0 , then with a short corner from Worthing they brought the score to 2:1 which is where borough really switched on making some great plays and finding the net more times finishing the half at 5:1 up. The second half saw the boys going out with great spirits and the home team continued to slot goals away up until 9:1 when after a break through Worthing found the home teams net again bringing the score to 9:2. Crowborough then re grouped pressing hard picking the ball up and scoring another 3 in the last 10 mins of the game to end in a great 12:2 win over Worthing. Goal scorer’s where 5 for Will H, 3 for John P, 2 for James L and 2 for Oli S.

MEN'S 3'S:

The men’s 3’s travelled to sunny Eastbourne for a 13:15 pushback on Saturday, taking on their Men’s 5’s. With just 11 players travelling, Crowborough knew this was going to be a long, tough match with no substitutes. A simple 4-4-2 formation helped the team build on last week’s performance. Every player was outstanding, making the right decisions, finding the right pass and creating so many chances. Unable to convert chances to goals, the match finished 0:0, with Player of the Match going to the whole team for this truly team performance.
