Men's Ones close in!

CROWBOROUGH Hockey’s Men’s Ones won 3-2 against rivals Mid Sussex.

It had started swimmingly for the Crows with a great brace for Dan Lang. However it was all evens again by half time with the visitors scoring twice. The second half was tightly fought. As time ticked away, some neat trickery and a clean shot by Freddie Lee saw the Crows take all three points. This keeps them top and three points clear of promotion rivals Horsham.

A hat trick by top scorer Kate Baxter helped the Ladies Ones soar to a 5-1 win over Brighton. Alice Webb was also amongst the goals.

The Ladies Twos notched up a 1-0 home win over Horsham. Despite numerous goal attempts the breakthrough just wouldn’t come. At the other end Goalkeeper Keren Loder was on top form, as was player of the match Tilly Ryder-Richardson.. A goal for Jen Brough was the result of a goalmouth scramble and gave the Crows all three points to stay fourth.

The Men’s Twos had an end to end encounter with Southwick but were at last beaten 7-5 in the day’s highest scoring game. Both the Threes’ teams faced mighty opponents. The Men lost 5-1 to Lewes despite an excellent goal from Graham Clampin. The Ladies lost 8-0 to Brighton.

The development sides demonstrated great potential despite losses. The boys battled a much older side in Brighton scoring a superb team goal, while the girls showed grit and character at home to Burgess Hill.
