First Week of A New Season
Saturday saw the start to a new season with a few pre-season friendlies.
Ladies Twos played Burgess Hill away at 10:30am, battling hard to finish with a 4-0 win. Goals from Annie Marr, Charlotte Richardson and Jen Lingard secured the win, each scoring in a unique and brilliant style.
Ladies Threes played their first game as an officially-formed team, playing another Burgess Hill side at home. Despite the 5-2 loss, the ladies worked ably together as a team and collaborated well to give the opposition a great and challenging game. Goals from Amanda Catling and Amber Valentine marked the teams first ever goals!
Men's Twos played against Horley early Saturday morning. The team described it as a friendly game and in spite of a 4-2 defeat, both teams came away having had a good-natured and enjoyable game.
Girls Development travelled to Burgess Hill in the afternoon and played a friendly game against their development side. The young team (along with adult, Vicky Dennett) battled hard for 70 minutes, also suffering a 4-2 loss. With many girls moving up into the ladies sides this season, the youthful team played superbly well with a minimum of older teenagers. They look forward to facing Worthing next weekend.
Ladies Ones, Men's Ones, Men's Threes and Boys Development all took part in a training session in the afternoon, the session focusing on improving the team's skills and readying the players for the season ahead. A great turnout and large expanse of skilful individuals gives the club much hope for the season ahead.
Overall, Crowborough have partaken in a deeply successful weekend of hockey and are ready for the new season to commence!
