CHC shortlisted for major awards

Crowborough Hockey Club has been shortlisted for four England Hockey Awards. The club are selected in the prestigious Emerging Club category. President Hilary Brown is shortlisted for the Lifetime Achievement Award, Will Sermon is one of a select three chosen for the Rising Star category and Vicky Dennett is named in the Official of the Year category..

The club's selection is for the progress both on and off the field - the imminent new pitch surface, the superb coaching, the Men's Ones promotion, progress in the youth section and an inclusive club set up. We are so proud to have been shortlisted here!

Hilary Brown (pictured left) is an incredibly worthy candidate in the Lifetime Achievement Awards. She has played in every team, she supports Justin on wet, cold and early Saturday mornings, she travels Sussex to pitch-run at County tournaments. She has supported many of our sides on matchdays. She sits on the Committee. The list goes on... she is an amazing role model and has given so much to hockey and our club.

We then have Will Sermon in the Rising Star category - he plays to a high level being part of the Men's Twos promotion challenge and representing Sussex U16s. Will supports Justin on Saturday mornings, he has umpired at many U10 and U12 matches at County events as well as playing as the adult for the U14s. He has also qualified as a L1 umpire this season and has umpired a number of adult and development league matches- not to mention all the hockey coaching he does at his school.

Finally Vicky Dennett is shortlisted as Official of the Year. She puts this down to the 40+ young umpires across all Sussex clubs who have officiated at County events. She is super proud too of the development of the young Crowborough umpires - nine of whom have umpired at tournaments. Vicky credits the likes of Alan Grey, Julie Bradshaw, Keren Loder and Amanda Catling along with Sue Perry for all the guidance they have given in the Sussex Junior Umpire program's development.

The England Hockey Awards Ceremony is on July 1st in Leicester!
